Can you tell us a niggling bit more nigh yourself?

I have been married to my wonderful husband for xxx years this November. I have 2 sons and one daughter, and I am a grandmother of four little angels. I live in a very rural function of Southwestern Virginia, and work full fourth dimension.

As a point of reference which age group do you belong to or peradventure yous are willing to share your age?

I ordinarily post to the over 40 group, but truth exist told, I belong in the over 50 grouping.

I am 55, or every bit my granddaughter calls it, double nickels.

My sister recently published a book, Last In A Long Line Of Rebels, and she had been encouraging me to start a blog. She even went so far every bit to purchase a domain proper noun for me.

I put her off for over a year, and then finally I decided to test the waters. I had no real knowledge of computers, no fashion grooming, and I alive in a tiny expanse with no shopping opportunities.

Then, a fashion blog was never on my radar, but since I love wearing apparel, I idea this would at least be a great lookbook I could use to run across which outfits worked for me, and which ones missed the mark.

I never really expected people to notice me. Lol!

How would you draw your own personal way?

I actually asked my husband this question months ago. I tend to remember of my style as eclectic, I mix trendy, vintage, and classic all together. My husband has coined my style equally "Swish with a little trashy."

What he meant was, a classical look with sexual activity appeal. I hope he thinks I have sex activity appeal; afterward all he is my husband. Haha!


What would you consider the most important components of your style?

I go with the flow. I think nosotros should have fun in our clothing and it should represent who you are, and how you desire others to view y'all.

With that said, I don't want others viewing my bumps and bulges, then I wear blazers and cardigans ofttimes. I believe in cover-up, using your apparel to make you look, and feel, your best.

Where do you alive and how does that influence your style?

Living in a pocket-size coal town in Southwestern Virginia has influenced my style. Our area has been hit hard by the downturn in the coal industry.

We practice not have a lot of clothing stores, and traveling to the nearest Mall is two hours away. I have learned that you lot can still exist stylish, and expect great, by shopping your cupboard and supplementing with what is available.

The Internet is open 24/7, but you practice not have to spend a fortune on dress to await similar you did.

Exercise you feel you have a signature style?

I think most of my readers would say I am relatable. I don't spend 500.00 or more on outfits. I shop affordable stores, and throw in a designer item or two.

I have been known to wearable a pair of Chanel shoes (hand-me-down), and an item from Wal-Mart at the same fourth dimension.


What inspires your outfit choices the nearly?

Color. I love color, and I take to watch myself from going overboard. I think colour affects your mood, and then having at least a "popular-of-color" can elevate your spirits for an entire day.

Do you lot take things similar color profiling or body blazon into account when y'all dress?

I have never been colour profiled. I accept had readers ask me about that, they might recollect I need to have it done.

Haha I practise take body type into business relationship. I take no real defined "curves" then I try to create them with jackets and cardigans.

A v-neck is 1 of my best friends. We should utilize our wearable to our best reward.

Has your mode changed at all later turning 40?

Yes, my style has inverse, and I like to think for the ameliorate. As a wife, and mother, I put myself on the back burner often when information technology came to fashion. I was presentable, but not always stylish.

When I turned 40, I was able to take a better wait at myself, and put a niggling extra effort on me.

Do you believe in dressing 'historic period appropriately' and what does it hateful to yous?

My mantra is "Historic period Is An Attitude, Go on Yours Young". What ane person considers advisable may not be the same for some other.

I call up you should wearing apparel in what makes yous happy. Take distressed jeans for example.

I honey my distressed jeans, but I have taken some flack from some who feel I am as well old for that look. I "feel" young, therefore I volition dress how I feel.

Would you say that at this stage of your life you are at present more than, or less interested in mode, style and the fashion you await?

Oh, definitely more. It could exist that every bit I take gotten older, I demand all the help I can get. When you are immature, you lot tin can get past with throwing something on, and running out the door.

People just assume you are decorated, but as y'all age, the assumption is that you don't care.

Why is the fashion you wait important to you?

It is very important to me to look my best. When I was much younger, the married woman of my boss would come past our office occasionally.

She was probably in her 70's, and she always looked fabulous. Not a pilus out of place, and dressed impeccably.

I thought she looked so "put together", and that is now my goal. I try to never leave the house without looking "put together."

Correct or wrong, we are treated like nosotros dress.

Practise you follow trends? And if yes, which trends excite you at the moment?

I love trends! I like mixing them in with my vintage, and archetype items.

Trends help y'all appear youthful and current. I love distressed jeans, plaid, stripes, and blood-red lipstick.

Are these still trends? That is the thing with trends; they change and then rapidly, what is "in" today tin be gone tomorrow.

Do you have any manner and mode tips for women over 40?

Take fun! Don't fade into the wallpaper.

Clothing colour, it volition make yous happy. Don't exist afraid to endeavor new things.
